Mike McCarthy

Mike McCarthy serves as partner of the Mid-Atlantic for Ken Clark Partners (KCP).

Previous Experience.  Mike has 25 years’ experience as a strategic Human Resources executive, with 15 years direct experience in executive talent acquisition. Prior to joining KCI, Mike was the Global Talent Acquisition Leader for Becton Dickinson, an $8 billion global medical device and technology company in Franklin Lakes, NJ.

From 2002 to 2007, Mike held the position of Director Global Staffing with Schering-Plough Pharmaceutical, a $7 billion global pharmaceutical firm in Kenilworth, NJ, subsequently purchased by Merck. He was instrumental in developing and implementing key recruitment strategies that attracted senior scientific and executive talent to lead the company through the successful completion of a 5 year Consent Decree, commercialization of a $1 billion product – Vytorin, and start up of a new $50 million Consumer/Animal Health business. From 1995 to 2001, Mike held executive Human Resources & Talent Acquisition leadership roles with Lincoln Financial Group, a $150 billion financial services company, and its Asset Management subsidiary, Delaware Investments.  He began his career in Human Resources with Unisys Corporation, a $4 billion information technology company.

Mike has been trained in performance, competency, leadership, and top-grading based assessment techniques. He has been an active member of ‘best-practice’ professional and executive talent acquisition organizations including Career Xroads, Executive Search Information Exchange,  Corporate Leadership Council, and Sourcing/Thought Leadership Institute.

Education and Professional Activities.  Mike holds an MS degree in Human Resources from Villanova University and a BS degree in Criminal Justice from West Chester University.  He serves on the Advisory Board of Villanova University’s Graduate Human Resources Development Program. He is active in coaching youth sports, and he and his family enjoy serving as a ‘host family’ for college ballplayers in the Cape Cod Baseball League.
